Why on earth would you spend good money to put Connectors on a speaker wire? Well once you get used to the the convenience, ease of use and reliability of using Banana plugs or spade lugs on your Speaker wires you'll wonder why you even considered not using them! Bare wire is a complete nuisance to try and fish into the typical Binding post on a speaker or a Receiver. Put the Receiver into a rack and plug all your equipment into it and you definitely don't want to crawl back there with a flashlight and try to fish that stupid wire through a hole you can't even see. If you used Banana plugs you could just plug them right in. Spades? Nothing gives you surface area contact for maximum current flow like a spade. They are not as convenient as bananas, but they sure beat bare wire. For most Cases we recommend Bananas at the Amp end and Spades at the Speaker end for the least trade off between convenience and performance.

The connector end of a speaker cable is where the tire meets the road. Speaker connectors are an extension of the cable and can be the weakest point in any audio system. The degrading process is gradual and difficult to detect. They are ignored until they become a major problem, which can go undetected for years. The best prevention is to make these connections the best possible from day one.
